The Order Sons of Italy in America (Ordine Figli d'Italia in America, or O.F.D.I.) was founded in 1905 and remains the largest Italian-American organization. This collection includes a pennant from the Order's Loggia Silvio Spaventa in Philadelphia, 31 inches long; painted silk banner reading "O.F.D.I. in A." with gilt lion, 22 x 16 1/2 inches plus fringe, worn; painted banner reading "Order Sons of Italy in America" with lion, 17 x 15 1/2 inches plus fringe; pair of crimson sashes reading "Grande Deputato"; 14 examples of an enamel badge in green, gilt and white reading "Liberta Uguaglianza Fratellanza, O.F.D.I. in A." each with an officer's title and most with attached ribbon loop; 3 similar 1 1/2-inch badges with attached "Pennsylvania"; 11 examples of a celluloid button bearing similar design in cast metal frame, 1 3/4 inches with short ribbons and inserted officer titles, produced in Philadelphia; and 3 manuals for the Order Sons of Italy printed in Philadelphia, 1929-circa 1945.
