Additional Details

A different side of the Chinese-American story. Liang Dunyan or Liang Tun-Yen (1857-1924) was one of several Chinese students sent to study in Connecticut, graduating from Hartford High School in 1878 and then attending Yale through 1881. He returned to China and had a long career as a diplomat, serving as Chinese minister to the United States in 1907, and as Secretary of Foreign Affairs intermittently from 1908 to 1917.
