An series of 48 photographs documenting construction of infrastructure related to Germantown Gas Holder buildings and tanks.
The construction located in Germantown, at 9th and Norris Streets, North Philadelphia. The photographs showing managers and engineers overseeing the sites of building and industrial design. Several of the photos are devoted to the site of an industrual accident, when a worker (Mr. James Logan) fell into coal machinery and died. The construction related to the distribution of natural gas through the use of crushing and burning coal. Albumen prints, the images measuring approximately 4 1/2x6 1/2 inches (11.4x16.5 cm.), mounted recto/verso, each with a caption, consecutive numeric notation, and date in ink below the image; interleafing sheets, also with the caption and dates; apparently a disbound album. 1900
