Additional Details

number one of only five copies signed by accardi. additionally inscribed and signed by her to collector walter s. goodhue in pen, on title-page. The total edition was 31. A scarce work by the the important female Italian Abstractionist painter and printmaker with text by French art critic Tapiè. Accardi was among the founders of the influential post-WWII group Forma 1 whose goal was to reconcile Marxist politics with abstract art. In the 1950s, she took a break from painting and turned to printmaking, exploring calligraphic abstractions and the relationship between figure and ground through the heavy use of white on black composition which this portfolio celebrates.
