Additional Details

Opponents of Andrew Jackson published several versions of these "Coffin Broadsides" during the 1828 campaign, and this one is probably the most extensive, filled with information on both sides. In addition to the best-known story of the execution of 6 militia men, it also tells of Indian massacres perpetrated by General Jackson, as well as Thomas Hart Benton's account of an armed family feud. The verso is titled "The Trial of the Six Militia Men, taken from the Official Papers," and contains the full trial account. 2 copies in OCLC (#51509187).
