Additional Details

This mock banknote includes a "Promise to pay Miss Venal Urbanity, or Bearer, on demand at their Dutch Banking House, Kinderhook, the sum of One Dollar." It is signed in type by "Mrs. Digested Ingham, Cashier" and "Mrs. Isolated Eaton, President," the two main antagonists in the "Petticoat Affair." These notes are rarely seen. We have traced $5 and $50 denominations of the same design, but find no other examples of this $1 version.
