Each separate volume with the same title but differences between the editions. The 1849 edition includes a climber's map of Mount Fuji as well as a world map showing California as an island and Australia joined to the Antarctic continent that does not appear in the 1831. Plans of important towns, Japanese history, dress, money, weapons, theater, food and drink, mathematics, games and samurai are all subjects highlighted in these massive Edo-period encyclopedias.
