Watercolor portrait of a courtesan with a street scene beneath her. 825x310 mm (32 1/4x12 1/4 inches), inlaid on green patterened silk; many strong horizontal creases with some loss of paper. Circa 1825 Utagawa KUNISADA (I). Kabuki actor Ebizô Ichikawa playing the role of Goro of Naritaya (Naritaya no Gorô, Ichikawa Ebizô). Standard size, inlaid on brown paper, dowels top and bottom. Circa 1840 Toyohara KUNICHIKA. Kabuki actor Shikan Nakamura plays the role of Tsutakichi of Ibishi (Sanjûroku Kasô no Uchi Omodaka) - from the flowers and plants series.
