Two albums containing a large number of pen-and-ink or pen-and-ink with watercolor studies of birds and animals. 58 mounted leaves of studies of which 27 involve watercolor additions. Albums are largely given over to studies of birds. The watercolor drawings generally feature a single bird or several birds. The pen-and-ink studies often contains many images on each leaf. Studies are very accomplished and most are identified in kanaka script. Two artists may be represented between the two pieces. Oblong 4to and oblong small folio, cloth with ties. No artist takes credit for these wonderful drawings. In the smaller of the albums, two leaves are dated 1927. Another inscription notes that the birds were drawn at the Tokyo Museum. must be seen to be appreciated.
