Inscribed by one of the most prominent Jewish Freemasons, citing his Masonic degree, to one of the most prominent authors on Freemasonry of his day. Isaac Mayer Wise (1819-1900) of Cincinnati was an influential Reform rabbi and prolific author; he was also a proud and active Freemason. The recipient Charles Thompson McClenanchan (1829-1896) was the author of "An Encyclopedia of Freemasonry and its Kindred Sciences," "The Book of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry," and other works.
