first and only edition. A Beautifully printed and bound children's book. The captions for the engravings, in German and English, were no doubt intended for Pennsylvania's considerable German-speaking population, and probably printed in Germany or Austria. This book is remarkable for its depiction of white and black children playing together as well as white and black adults in scenes together. While some scenes certainly suggest that the blacks in them may be both poor and or servants, there is no suggestion of the subject of slavery. OCLC locates only three copies of this book, giving the plate count as 15.
