Stoughton had been aboard Air Force One to photograph Johnson's emergency inauguration, but left the plane before it departed from Dallas so he could have the historic images developed immediately for the press. It seems likely that after leaving the plane, Stoughton asked for a copy of the passenger list to aid in identifying the people he had photographed. An interesting artifact from the assassination's immediate aftermath. Provenance: sold by Stoughton's estate at a Bonhams sale, 9 December 2010 as part of lot 6200, to the consignor.
