(KING, MARTIN LUTHER, JR.) Honor King: End Racism. Black and white placard, 21 1/2 x 14 inches; missing a 3 x 5-inch section from the bottom left corner with some loss to text, tack holes in corners, crude 1/2-inch hole in upper margin, moderate staining and soiling suggesting use. Memphis, TN: Allied Printing Trades Council, [8 April 1968]
Another example of the Memphis placard from the march held four days after the assassination, this one quite worn. Provenance: the sister of the consignor, who is believed to have worn the placard at the march. At the time, she was a student at University of Tennessee at Memphis, pursuing a master's degree in social work.
