the original plate for an edition that was not printed. This portrait of Martin Luther King Jr. by Ben Shahn was originally engraved on wood by Stefan Martin for the cover of Time Magazine's March 19th, 1965 issue. The portrait was subsequently re-done via photo-offset for two separate limited editions. The present appears to be yet a third, photo-etched version, for an edition that was never printed.
