Additional Details

George Harrell Williams (1891-1967) of Birmingham was an oiler with the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway, better known as the Frisco Lines; and also with the Louisville & Nashville Railroad Company. He began in 1913 and was still at it in 1950. Offered here are 4 of his Frisco Lines identification cards, 1932-1939, one of them naming him as "George Williams (Colored), Car Oiler": a packet of 6 letters back and forth with the Louisville & Nashville line regarding his back pay, 1941-1947; and his voter registration certificate from 1939, stipulating that this gave the right to vote only if all poll taxes were paid.
