Additional Details

"The variations in known copies of this edition of the Laws are numerous partly owing to the manner in which it was issued"--Evans 6479. Bound with 4 continuations: Evans 6653, 6830, 6831, and 6981.
Several of the rear flyleaves have been removed, but the 4 remaining leaves contain some interesting notes, including a 13-point chronology of the American Revolution on a partial leaf extending through 1780; a list of 14 men headed "This book belongs to these men hereafter named according to their list," each apparently annotated with their tax rate; and a 1781 note on life philosophy: "The thought said oft is to keep what you got, and git what you can." Laid in is an amusing 5-page letter by an unnamed descendant dated 1995, laying out some family history and describing this book as "the WASP Talmud: 23,000 rules or more as the crows fly, to constrain the constituents from complete abandon in their pursuit of happiness, liberty and life."
