The pochoirs printed by Ateliers de Richard, Paris. Number 576 of 1200 copies of Léger's first illustrated book in color. Éditions de la Sirène was Jean Cocteau's publishing house. Le Fin du Monde was the collaborative project by Léger, Cendrars, and Cocteau who were all engaged in filmmaking at the time of publication. "Compressing space in the Cubist manner, Leger invokes a sense of simultaneity with overlapping and repetitive geometric and alphabetic forms" (Castleman, A Century of Artist Books pp. 170-171).
