Additional Details

Pleasing example of Strada's historical compendium on the Dutch War of Independence against Spain. The portraits represent key figures of the lengthy affair including Philip II, Margaret of Austria, Charles V, William of Nassau, the Duke of Alba, Phillippe de Croy, Queen Elizabeth I and Robert Dudley, however, the main attraction of the volumes are their two miniature maps of the Low Countries fashioned as a formidable lion.
