The 7 March issue includes President Jefferson's report on the April 1805 letter from Captain Lewis, the last report from the westward leg. The news took nearly 11 months to make its way down the wild Missouri, across the country to Washington, and then up to Boston.

The 12 December 1806 issue includes President Jefferson's State of the Union address on the Lewis and Clark expedition: "The expedition of Messrs. Lewis and Clarke . . . has had all the success which could have been expected . . . and their brave companions have, by this arduous service, deserved well of their country."
