Additional Details

first edition of the autobiographical work and story of one of the first gender confirmation surgeries, performed on Danish painter, Einar Wegener in 1930.
Wegener, better known as Lili Elbe, was the spouse and model of the artist Gerda Wegener. Their story was the subject of the 2015 film "The Danish Girl." Although the book is listed as written by Niels Hoyer, a pseudonym for Ernst Ludwig Hathorn Jacobson, Lili was the true author of the book. Jacobson, Elbe's friend and editor, assembled and edited her letters and diary, and dictated material to form the book. Her recollections describe her experiences as a pre-war transgender individual and serve as a resource for trans history.
