This extra was produced at 9 a.m. on the morning following the assassination. It includes Stanton's 4:10 a.m. War Department dispatch that "the President continues insensible," and naming "Wilkes Booth [as] being the one that shot the President." Above it is the text of Stanton's telegram announcing that "Abraham Lincoln died this morning at 22 minutes after 7 o'clock." The lead headline is "Mr. Seward remains without change," and among the other headlines is "J. Wilkes Booth the murderer."
