Additional Details

An interesting bit of Lincoln campaign memorabilia. The Lincoln Battalion was a private militia unit working to generate votes for Lincoln in Brooklyn. This notice invites Clark to "a Meeting of this Battalion for Exercise and Drill," adding that the following night the battalion will convene to "receive the Rail Splitters from NY." The Eighteenth Ward Rail Splitters were a similar unit from Manhattan. See the New York Times, 12 June, 30 July, 4 September, and 23 October 1860.
