From a fifteen-foot painting done over six months at the White House in 1864, based on interviews with Lincoln and sittings with the cabinet members. The original painting is now in the collection of the United States Senate. Depicted are Edwin M. Stanton, Salmon P. Chase, President Lincoln, Gideon Welles, Caleb B. Smith, William H.
