(LINCOLN, ABRAHAM--PRINTS.) Honest Old Abe on the Stump. Lithograph, 10 x 8 inches; laid down on paper. (TFC) Np, circa 1860

Additional Details

Depicts a two-faced Lincoln campaigning in Springfield in 1858, and later at the 1860 nomination convention, where he says only "I come to see, and be seen." It may date from the May-November 1860 period, when Lincoln was keeping a low profile about his more controversial political views. "The lithograph is particularly well drawn. Although clearly by a trained and able artist, it is not readily attributable to any of the major known cartoonists of the time"--Reilly 1860-32. None known at auction.
