Additional Details

Arthur Barnette Spingarn (1878-1971), a white Jewish lawyer from New York, was among the founding leaders of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and served as the organization's president from 1940 to 1965. He was also an important collector of African American literature, most of which is now part of the Moorland–Spingarn Research Center at Howard University.

Offered here is a portion of his typescript personal library catalogue, covering A through M. The typescript includes books published through 1963, with additional books added in manuscript published through 1967.
