First edition. Pauli Murray (1910-1985) was an activist for civil rights and gender equality, a legal scholar, and later in life was an Episcopal priest. Dark Testament is a compilation of their poems which had originally been published in periodicals from the 1930s through the 1960s, many of them on civil rights themes. This is its first known appearance at auction.
