a presentation copy bearing an inscription in blue ink on the first page: "for shawn, witness, tell the truth, love jimmy b." "The Welcome Table" was Baldwin's last work, unfinished at his tragic death at 63 at St Paul de Vence, France. The work is set on the Riviera, in a place much like his own.
