Additional Details

Rare example of music written by Dunbar for one of his poems "Negro Love Song," which appeared in "Lyrics of Lowly Life" the same year. Dunbar's poems have been set to music by many composers including Will Marion Cook, William Grant Still, Samuel Coleridge Taylor, and even John Phillip Sousa. But this is the only example we could find of Dunbar setting his own composition to music. No copy located by OCLC.
