Binder containing 36 occupational photographs depicting woodlands in Portland, Oregon and Challam Bay, Washington (specifically, McNeill O'Heron Sprice Camp), by two accomplished commercial photographers, Arthur M. Prentiss and W. A. Ellison. Wth scenes of lumberjacks at work, views of majestic redwood trees, and group studies of laborers running lumber, comprising 26 by Prentiss and 10 mounted photographs by Ellison. Silver prints, 10 are mounted and the image size is 6 1/2x4 1/2 inches (15.9x11.4 cm.), and 26 are unmounted and measure approximately 9x7 inches (22.9x17.8 cm.), and the reverse; most with Prentiss' hand stamp on verso or credit in the negative, and a few with Ellison's caption and/or credit in the negative. Additional Details

The Oregon-based photographer Prentiss worked in various photography studios between 1913-22. In 1917, he joined Benjamin A. Gifford, resulting in a partnership, Gifford-Prentiss Inc. that lasted until Gifford retired, in 1920.
