Additional Details

Portland's Union Station was built in 1888 on a design by the firm of Winslow & Wetherell, serving trains on the Maine Central Railroad and the Boston & Maine Railroad. Even Portland residents may not recognize this stately structure. It was demolished in 1961 to make way for the Union Station Plaza strip mall, which presently houses a Dollar Tree, a pawn shop and other establishments.
