Additional Details

An interesting association piece connecting the three best-known leaders of the Nation of Islam. This album is signed "Compliments of Malcolm X" on the front sleeve, with the name of the recipient "Mr. Hicks" added in another hand. The sleeve is decorated with the flag of the Nation of Islam. The verso of the sleeve features a photograph of Nation of Islam leader Elijah Muhammad, along with a "Thumbnail Sketch of the Messenger." However, the song was actually written and performed by a young calypso signer named Louis X who had become Malcolm X's protégé in the Nation of Islam. Louis X later went on to greater fame under the name Louis Farrakhan. The flip side is an instrumental version. with--a typescript college paper found with the album: "Louis Farrakhan: Another Malcolm X?," 1972.
