Additional Details

From the Estate of Roberta Kimmel Cohn; to the Present Owner, in 2016.

The photograph is believed to be part of an original maquette entitled 50 Rayographs, which was given by Man Ray to the art dealer Roberta Kimmel Cohn, who hoped to find an American publisher for the work. However the book project was never realized and the maquette remained in Cohn's possession.

The photograph was printed by Naomi Savage (1927-2005), Man Ray's niece, and a photographer in her own right. Savage studied under Berenice Abbott after Abbott had served as Man Ray's studio assistant approximately 20 years prior. She later went on to experiment with various photographic techniques and produce work that stretched the photographic medium.
