Wherein John Van Der Bilt is selling a Negro man, to Peter Cortelyou of King's County, New York. The language is particularly striking: "I hereby sell and convey the said nigger. . ." Signed by John Van Der Bilt and Jeremiah Van Der Bilt as well as (?) Boerum. These are all well-known early New York and Brooklyn names.
