(MARILYN MONROE)
A photo booth self-portrait of the soon-to-be Hollywood icon when she was still Norma Jeane Baker, grinning in lipstick, a wide-brimmed hat, a checked shirt, and jacket. Silver print, 1 1/4x1 1/2 inches (3.2x3.8 cm.), trimmed to the edges of the image at the top and bottom, but with a thin black border at the right and left. Circa 1940

Additional Details

From the estate of a relative of Marilyn Monroe; to the owner of the image archive 'Silver Screen."

An early photobooth picture of Norman Jeane Mortensen/Baker (a/ka/ Marilyn Monroe 1926-1962), which was originally given to a relative, and is perhaps her first self portrait. The fashionably-attired teenager, who is shown in a hounds-tooth jacket and plaid shirt, is depicted before she married for the first time.

Although originally part of a series of 3 or 4 images, this photograph is vintage and unique. Negatives created by photobooth kiosks were retained in the machine but subsequently destroyed.
A rare property and primary object.
