Additional Details

This notice was printed by the British shipping firm Focke & Boult to advertise its ships leaving for New York. This one announces that the ship E.Z. would be leaving in six days from Victoria Dock. It is described as a "beautiful first-class American ship . . . nearly new & a first-rate conveyance in every respect." These slips were apparently a more inexpensive (and yet more ephemeral) means of advertisement than the better-known clipper ship cards of the era.
