Additional Details

Joshua Bailey Osgood (1782-1861) of Portland, Maine was arrested in France in 1808 when "one of my sailors, a drunken scoundrel by the name of Tomlinson, went on shore & reported to the authority that I was from London." The testimony describes his captivity of several months, his dramatic escape, and the value of his lost ship.
