The 15 April issue features a front-page photo with the cheerful caption "Steamship Titanic on her Maiden Voyage," but it is accompanied by the first report of trouble: "Titanic Strikes Iceberg, Sinking." The next day, most of the front page is devoted to the tragedy, including photographs of several victims and partial list of survivors, with a banner headline in red: "1,200 Souls Go Down with the Titanic." The 17 April issue updates in another red banner headline: "Hope for 1,300 is Abandoned." Front-page coverage of the tragedy continued through the 25 April issue.
