Additional Details

These photographs were taken during Dr King's only visit to Fort Worth. One shows him on a couch in a living room (said to be the home of Vada Felder) with members of the welcoming committee. Another shows him outdoors with the welcoming committee (possibly at the airport), and a third shows him shaking hands with an unidentified woman at the same location. Finally, one shows the welcoming committee at the airport awaiting King's arrival. See Kris Gutierrez, "Dr. King's Only Visit to Fort Worth," 4 April 2018, on the NBC-DFW website. One of these photographs, the living room image, was used in the accompanying news feature.
Calvin Littlejohn (1909-1993) was a Black photographer in Fort Worth, TX. The Dolph Briscoe Center for American History at the University of Texas holds an enormous archive of his prints and negatives, and a book of his work was published in 2009, but no other Littlejohn photographs have been traced at auction.
