(MASCARENE ISLANDS AND MADAGASCAR.) A superb archive of maps, manuscripts, and early local imprints, spanning more than 50 years of French colonial history in the southern Indian Ocean, and reflecting the extreme danger of some of France's farthest-flung endeavors, especially during the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars. Fairly consistent edge wear and oxidation throughout. sold as is. should be seen to be appreciated. Primarily the Mascarene Islands, 1760s onward.
