Additional Details

Bumstead advertises "an extensive, valuable, and increasing Collection of Books, Chiefly New--Editions, Bindings Elegant and Plain . . . at the lowest Cash Boston prices," and offers to buy or trade used books. His auction service is also described: "Booksellers can have that part of their stock which has for years waited in vain for purchasers, turned into Cash in hand . . . on a principle fair and honorable, giving equal satisfaction to purchaser and seller." On verso is the manuscript record of a book purchase: Richardson's novel Clarissa in two volumes for $7.00, less a 40% discount. What appears to be a short grocery list is appended: "fish, turkeys, turnips, eggs." One other copy traced in OCLC.
