Additional Details

Each features a title page in Latin headed by the governor "Illustrssimo Edvardo Everett, Armigero, LL.D."; two pages of the order of exercises in English; and a colophon page. The ignominious Class of 1836 had been expelled en masse for rioting as sophomores, but most were readmitted and allowed to graduate. The Class of 1837 featured Henry David Thoreau, who is on the program participating in a group talk on "The Commercial Spirit of Modern Times" with two classmates, and appears on the Latin class list as "David-Henricus Thoreau."
