Additional Details

Dennison Manufacturing Company was founded in 1844 and centralized their production at a factory complex in Framingham, MA in 1898. They were the first and foremost American manufacturers of decorative crepe paper from 1894 onwards. The paper was used by the yard as a fabric substitute for draperies, party table decorations, parade floats, even disposable clothing. After a 1990 merger, the company remains active today as Avery Dennison, best known as manufacturers of adhesive labels, but the crepe paper has been discontinued. These two volumes are filled with colorful samples of Dennison papers, both plain and patterned. The patterns include floral, Easter, Halloween, Christmas, brickwork, patriotic and rustic designs, which do not seem to repeat between the two volumes. The later volume is also prefaced by 2 leaves of printed introductory text, suggesting dozens of potential uses for the paper.
