Additional Details

Eben Sumner Draper (1857-1914) was raised in the Utopian community of Hopedale, MA, rose to control his family's large textile machinery firm, and served as a pro-business governor of Massachusetts from 1909 to 1911. The first of these volumes is a binder containing 29 pieces from Draper's early years, including report cards from Hopedale Private School (1867) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1876), and numerous undated Hopedale school essays in his hand. The other volume is a 166-page scrapbook of clippings and a few programs dated 1909-11, covering his period as a governor. It was compiled by his wife Nannie Bristow Draper.
