Album with more than 70 photographs by the accomplished amateur photographer Oliver Hall, with many relating to M.I.T. Includes scenes of a wireless lab, nocturnal electricical displays, campus views and interior pics of the university, portraits of students, and picturesque scenes of subway construction in Boston and Perth Amboy. Hall was an engineering student at M.I.T. (and the brother of Suffragette Louise Hall); with an additional 30 snapshots of Hall, his friends, and family members. Silver prints, 4 3/4x6 3/4 inches (12.1x17.1 cm.), and smaller, and the reverse, many with a handwritten caption (some are dated), in white ink, below the photograph. Oblong 4to, leatherette; contents disbound. 1912-13

Additional Details

Hall was an skilled photographer (see lot 80) who, in this album, focused his attentions on laborers, views of laboratories at M.I.T., campus life, scenic views, and snapshots of his family and friends. Of particular note are interior studies of electrical power plants at Perth Amboy and illuminated displays of signage.
