Group of approximately 80 pieces related to the ship, including 25 photographs of the ship being built, launched, as a troopship, and as a passenger liner (almost all vintage and many with caption slip or the inked Matson stamp on verso, most in 8x10 inch format), plus a wealth of advertising brochures issued by Matson which deal with "Lurline" service (most 9x4 inch format and issued in the 1950s-60s), plus generations of deck plans. 1930s-60s

Additional Details

A long-lived ship which began sailing in 1932 from the Quincy yard of Bethlehem Steel. During her early years she served two classes of customers. The ship served in the war and re-entered passenger service in 1948 after being reconditioned as a single class ship (First).
