Additional Details

Isaac A. Rehn (1815-1883) was a spiritualist and a highly successful photographer-inventor. He was a partner of James Ambrose Cutting, the inventor of the ambrotype process in 1854, and received a share of the licensing fees. The Franklin Institute awarded to Rehn the highest premium for his ambrotypes. He later received a patent for solar printing on canvas, which came out of his experiments with heliography.
