Additional Details

The Army Medical Museum was founded during the Civil War to act as a research facility, since many doctors were unfamiliar with gunshot wounds, the causes of infections, and even blood typing. This group was made to illustrate state-of-the-art hospital and equipment designs. While these photographs are uncredited, they may be by William Bell, who was associated with the Museum.
