Additional Details

Henry H. Kelley (1819-1896) was a druggist and chemist of Philadelphia. He opened a pharmacy at the corner of 4th and Noble in 1840, sold it in 1846, but apparently retained this book and continued to make entries through at least 1873. Hundreds of recipes are contained herein, mostly for medicine, but also for household products such as varnish or ink. The medicines go beyond the usual household remedies into proprietary remedies such as "Bodder's Cathartic Pills" and "Bidwell's Cough Drops."
