Additional Details

Jones's work on the treatment of wounds, first published in 1775, is considered the first book on surgery written and published in America. Appended to Van Swieten's Diseases are extracts from Northcote's work on Marine surgery and Ranby's treatise on gun-shot wounds. Frequently found bound together, these two titles are valued both for their medical contributions as well as the Revolutionary association. Evans 15100 and 14814; Austin 1843 and 1085; Guerra A597 and A583.
