The Holy Bible containing the Old and New Testaments and the Apocrypha. 14 volumes. 72 engravings after paintings by Turner, Michelangelo, Burne-Jones, Reynolds, Rossetti, Doré, Rubens, Lalauze, Raphael, Westall, and many others, each on Japan and on laid paper, with lettered tissue guards, for a total of 144 plates. Large 8vo, full pigskin with embossed silver corner pieces and monogrammed silver book with crown pieces in centers of front covers; rear covers contain silver corner pieces and blindstamped centerpiece, raised bands with faux straps, full pigskin doublures with same book and crown device in corners, spines quite dry and a bit darkened, scattered rubbing and scuffing to covers, final volume with darkening along top edge of front cover; top edges trimmed and gilt, others uncut, copper colored silk endleaves; ex-collection Marie C.
